Never rowed before but want to try a new sport? Our Learn-To-Row Weekends can teach you the basics of rowing in large boats with one oar (sweep). After a weekend, you can join our Novice Program and row with others who are starting out. To truly enjoy this sport, you must be at least moderately fit and be able to carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Click here to download the LTR Handbook.

Upon successfully completing your Novice Program, you can enter the Experienced or Racing Programs. With regular attendance and an average learning curve, most people can graduate from the Novice Program within a single session. Your LTR and Novice Program fees apply toward the $350 annual membership dues, making your cost for either the Experienced or Racing Programs for the rest of the season $100, plus the coaching fees for the program you choose. For questions about the Novice Program, please contact Jacque at jskruger728@comcast.net.

- $45/four-week session (or $120/3 months if paid in advance), plus annual $350 membership dues
Are you an experienced rower looking for water time in the Rockies or have you graduated from the Novice Program and want more? The Experienced Program is the core of BCR for people who want to sweep well, work hard, and improve their fitness and technique in a friendly environment. The program is open to those with advanced skills, as well as members who have successfully completed the Novice Program. Workout length and intensity gradually increase over the four-week session depending on member input and progress. Whenever possible, participants will be boated with others who share their goals for the row, as well as their level of fitness and skill. For questions about the Experienced Program, please contact info@boulderrowing.com. Click here to download the Program Details & Curricula Document.

- $100/eight-week session (or $90/session if 2 or more sessions are paid in advance), plus annual $350 membership dues
For those with a competitive spirit, the Racing Program will stretch your endurance, strength, technique and teamwork. Each eight-week session finishes with a major regatta, in which members of the Racing Program are required to compete. Participant numbers are kept small due to the level of commitment and training required. Although there may be several boats, including boats of first-time racers, plus singles and doubles, all racing members receive equal respect and coaching. In order to be accepted into the program, you must:
- Commit to four days a week (Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays) of on-the-water training and commit to attending the designated end-of-session race.
- Engage in 87.5% of on-the-water Racing Program rows (you can miss 4 days of the 32 days of the session to still qualify. Injuries, illness, and other absences must be communicated to the coach and mutually addressed.)
- Race in lineups determined by the coach that may require seat racing, erg tests or other tests.
Days, Times and Sessions:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, 5:30-7 a.m., & Saturdays, 6-8 a.m.
- Racing-1: April 21-June 14
Mandatory regatta: NW Masters Regionals in Vancouver, WA, June 20-22
- Racing-2: June 16-Aug. 9
Mandatory regatta: Masters National Championship in Long Beach, CA, Aug. 14-17
- Racing-3: Aug. 18-Oct. 11
Mandatory regatta: Head of the Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, OK, Oct. 3-5
For questions about the Racing Program, please contact Terri Brady at te.rae.22@gmail.com. Click here to download the Program Details & Curricula Document.
Want to race but don't want the commitment?
All BCR members are welcome to attend races throughout the year. There are plenty of no-pressure local races, like the Horsetooth Ache in Fort Collins and our very own Thin Air Head Regatta.
Members who are not currently in the Racing Program may arrange and pay for separate racing coaching outside of the scope of the Experienced or Novice Programs. Any member can pull together a team to participate in any race with club equipment; however, members currently in the Racing Program receive first priority of equipment during their regularly scheduled program time and on the weekend of the Racing Program's predetermined races.
Refund Policy:
- A processing fee of $25 will be applied to all cancellations
- Any refund requests after the session has begun will be subject to the discretion of the Board.
